Seating employees in the same room with an open floor-plan can also lead to disruption, incompetence and even clashes. There are few tips which can really help to create a congenial environment in open-office.

Give space to others: In an open-offices set up staff typically works close to each other - so close, in fact, that you could probably read what your colleague is typing on his computer from your seat. This can cause insecurity and even discomfort in workers. Be sure to value your co-workers' privacy by avoiding peeping into their space.

Keep noise and interruptions to the minimum: Loud conversations (either between workers or on the phone) or habits such as pattering on the desk, twitching or getting up and down often, can create an annoying distraction to those trying to concentrate. If you want to listen to music, podcasts or videos, use headphones.

Be uncluttered: Your untidy desk can be a distraction for others and will also harm the professional image that your organisation is trying to establish. Keep your belongings limited to your own personal space and tidy up your immediate area each day before leaving work. If you share a desk, be sure to clear any personal items like coffee cups and office supplies before walking out.

The "glass half-full attitude": Ppen-office environment brings together myriad personalities, with different styles. Be tolerant to these differences and find ways to adapt. Everyone is not going to agree with you all the time. Keep an open mind, listen with the intent to learn and focus on the positive aspects of your job.

Don't come to work if you are unwell: When you work in close quarters, it is easy to transfer germs. Stay home if you are sick. Its good hygiene to cover your mouth when you cough, keep hand sanitiser handy, don't leave used tissues around, and wipe down the desk, computer keyboard and phone from time to time to help prevent germs from spreading.

Avoid 'ping' on your smartphones: When sharing a space, avoid the 'ping' on your smartphones as when a new text arrives, it may become  a nuisance for all of your co-workers in an open office area.

Avoid lingering smell in office: Body odour, strong perfumes, gels, after shave can be a problem for many co-workers. Also certain type of food items with strong smells can also create a problem in the open space, so, Keep in mind that some workers may also be sensitive to air fresheners, perfume and cologne.

Hope these tactics help make your workdays be less stressful and more productive.
