Obtaining NOC a tedious process, say industrialists

The Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertaking (CICU) urged the government to simplify the process of obtaining no-objection certificate (NOC) for groundwater.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, said, “NOC for groundwater is one of the burning issues in the industry. Heavy penalty for non-compliance (Rs 5,000 per day after March 31) is creating panic among industrialists.”

Pankaj Sharma, general secretary, CICU, welcomed the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) and DIC officials and shared industry related problems with them. They said the objective of the event was to sensitise industrialist and create awareness on regulatory framework for the NOC regarding groundwater.

Anoop Nagar, regional director, CGWA, Tarun Mishra, scientist, CGWA and Rakesh Rana explained the process for filling the NOC for groundwater through a presentation.

Mahesh Khanna, GM, DIC, heard grievances of industrialists related to groundwater.

Businessmen suggested in the meeting that such programmes should be conducted on regular basis in the region. The meeting was attended by more than 200 industrialists.
