Chandigarh, July 15

The PGI Nurses Welfare Association today postponed the proposed protest march after assurance from the PGIMER administration.

Satyaveer Singh Dagur, general secretary of the association, said the PGI administration had assured them to conduct a Departmental Promotion Committee meeting within 3-4 days. He said re-fixation of pay with effect from January 1, 2006, had been started and it would be credited with the salary of August.

He said they had decided to continue wearing black badges till July 22 in support of their demands. He said nearly 2,000 nursing officers were working round the clock in the PGIMER and all were protesting by wearing black badges to express their anger without interrupting the patients care services at the institute. — TNS
