Now, fog disrupts rail traffic

LUDHIANA: As the mercury has started dipping in the entire northern region and visibility has gone down, especially during early morning and late evening, the rail traffic has become erratic.

As the mercury has started dipping in the entire northern region and visibility has gone down, especially during early morning and late evening, the rail traffic has become erratic. More than one and a half dozen long-route trains were running late while three others had to be rescheduled from two to 12 hours by the Railways.

According to railway officials, 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express (12 hrs), 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail (4.05 hrs), 12238 Jammu Tawi-Varanasi Begumpura Express (2.30 hrs) and 13050 Amritsar-Howrah Express (2.20 hrs) were rescheduled.

Among the trains running late by over six to eight hours were 12469 Kanpur-Jammu Tawi Barfaani Express, 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail and 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express.

  • (3 to 6 hrs): 18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Muri Express, 12237 Varanasi-Jammu Tawi Begumpura Express, 13307 Dhanbad-Ferozepur Ganga Sutlej Express, 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express, 12331 Howrah-Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express and 13049 Howrah-Amritsar Express.
  • (1 to 3 hrs): 18215 Durg-Jammu Express, 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express, 12317 Kolkata-Amritsar Akaltakht Express, 12407 Newjalpaiguri-Amritsar Karambhoomi Express, 12238 Jammu Tawi-Varanasi Begumpura Express and 15933 Dibrugarh-Amritsar Weekly Superfast Express.
