New Delhi, February 11

A day after the Congress raised the issue, the CPM on Monday said Comptroller and Auditor General Rajiv Mehrishi’s Rafale deal report, to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, was allegedly compromised and pitched for the Supreme Court revisiting its earlier ruling over the purchase deal with France.

“The CAG report on Rafale suffers from conflict of interest as he (Mehrishi) was the Finance Secretary when this deal was inked. The credibility of the report is, hence, severely compromised,” the CPM said. The Congress has taken a strident flagging “conflict of interest” with regard to Mehrishi and the report on the ground that “he was part of the Rafale negotiations”.

In light of media reports, the CPM said the SC had not been furnished full information on the deal. Fresh reports suggest the anti-corruption clauses were allegedly waived as far as the negotiations were concerned.
