The State Education Department is taking every measure to develop students’ interest in studies and to solve the absentism issues among them. In one such move, the department has decided to celebrate birthdays of the students in school.

In a letter written to all the District Education Officers, it has been mentioned that from time to time they keep on arranging activities to inculcate interest of the students in school because one can achieve good results only when the students have interest and urge to come to school regularly. Keeping this in view, it has been decided to celebrate the birthday of the students studying in government schools.

A birthday is a special moment in every child’s life. So he/she should be given birthday wishes in the morning assembly by the staff and the students. The name of the student and his achievements in sports and studies should also be discussed during the morning assembly. The board on which today’s thought is written in the school, should also display the name of the student, on his birthday. A birthday card or tag can be given to the student to make it a memorable day for him. The instructions also mention that no gift should be taken from the student on his birthday.

Suksimar, a student of Class 5, studying at a government school, was elated at the very concept of celebrating birthday at school. “I am very excited to have my name announced in the assembly. The entire school will wish me.”
