Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar on Tuesday refuted INLD leader Abhay Chautala’s allegation that he was protecting JJP-backed legislators from losing membership of the Assembly by delaying action under the anti-defection law.

The four MLAs are Naina Chautala from Dabwali, Anoop Dhanak from Uklana, Rajdeep Phogat from Dadri and Prithi Singh from Narwana.

“The MLAs needed time to obtain some papers in support of their reply and sought 30 days for it,” the Speaker said.

“Since the Assembly Secretariat is to supply the papers and this will take time, I gave them 15 days instead of a month they had sought,” he added.
