By the age others look forward to a relaxed life post retirement, veteran actor-cricketer Yograj Singh is still a force to reckon with. Wrap for a film, titled Teriyan Meriyan Hera Pheriyan, last week; gearing up for the release of Sadi Marzi this week, later this month he flies to the Bahamas for the shoot for Indian 2, that’s besides writing, and listening to scripts. Each day for him comes with regular workout.

This Monday, however, it was another side of him that we witnessed–a loving, caring and tender husband as his wife Neena Bhundel sat on his left, glowing in the attention he showered on her. This duo plays husband and wife, he, a Punjabi and she, a Haryanavi, and how this complicates life of their son who gets caught in this culture war.

“It’s a fun film in which the couple quarrels all the while but sticks through it all,” opens up Singh, who at this age and stage is putting in as many as 18 hours a day to his passion – acting. “I wish to be in front of the camera till my last breath,” he insists.

As proud he is of his innings in cricket and cinema, so is he of his son, cricketer Yuvraj Singh. As he mentored his son’s cricket career, he is open to do it again if  Yuvraj decides to ever take the film route. “I  guarantee you, he will emerge a superstar in cinema if ever takes it up.”

In Hazel, he finds a perfect life partner for his son who ensures that both remain at the top of the game when it comes to fitness. Ever thought of a biopic? “Well, I have written a story Naam Karega Roshan that bares my soul – Yograj as a husband, son, father and how I dealt with the long separation from my own son.”

Time to get back

Neena Bhundel makes a comeback on big screen after 27 years and only too happy, “It was a conscious decision to stay away from work to bring up my children. Now that they are following their own path, I am free to face the camera again.”

True calling

All of 20, Anirudh Lalit is a trained dancer, black belt in taekwondo, national-level shooter, trained at National School of Drama and New York Film Academy and pursuing law from Jindal University. As he debuts with Sadi Marzi, a film that he shot during his summer vacation, he shares, “It’s in acting that my heart is.”

With so many feathers in his cap, we wonder if he would take his dad Ashok Tanwar’s lead and step into politics. He is honest to the core as he answers, “While I support my family, I really don’t understand much of politics at the moment.” Happy at the family’s support, he is earnest when he says that he needs to carve his own niche. Directed by Ajay Chandhok, Sadi Marzi is produced by Anirudh’s mother Avantika Tanwar.
