The Congress said on Wednesday its coalition government with the JDS in Karnataka was safe and there was no threat of any rebellion.

Congress leader from the state Mallikarjun Kharge dismissed as speculation the talk that the state governments was unstable.

This is a lie being spread by the BJP which has a history of attempting to dislodge democratically elected governments, said Kharge.

He said the BJP was using all enforcement agencies to intimidate Karnataka MLAs to try and buy them over.

“But all our 118 MLAs are with us. They are sticking to our principles and are not going anywhere. The BJP is jittery and that’s why it has had to herd its own MLAs in a five star hotel in Gurugram,” said Kharge slamming the BJP for “spreading lies”.

Kharge said the Congress CLP is meeting in Bengaluru on Thursday along with JD-S to reaffirm the stability of the coalition government.

“The government is safe and we will run it,” Khare said.
