With the weather taking a turn for the worse, the rail traffic in the region remained erratic with the Railways having to cancel 17 trains for the day. Two other trains were rescheduled and another was diverted via an alternative route. Many more long-route trains were running late causing more inconvenience to the travelling public. The lone Air India flight between Delhi and Ludhiana was also delayed by an hour and a half.
According to the Railways, 12241/42 Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express, 12903/04 Mumbai Central-Amritsar-Mumbai Central Golden Temple Mail, 12925/26 Bandra Terminus-Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Paschim Express, 14673/74 Jaynagar-Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express, 15209/10 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express, 15707/08 Katihar-Amritsar-Katihar Amrapali Express, 12471 Bandra Terminus-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Swaraj Express, 12474 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Gandhidham Sarvodaya Express, 13050 Amritsar-Howrah Express, 13307 Dhanbad-Fsrozepur Ganga Sutlej Express, 14501 Bathinda-Jammu Tawi Express, 19611 Ajmer-Amritsar Express and 19806 Udhampur-Kota Express trains were cancelled on Thursday.
12904 Amritsar-Mumbai Central Golden Temple Mail was diverted via an alternative route between the Hazrat Nizamuddin and Sawai Madhopur stations.
