Chandigarh, August 20
Even after ten days since jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh was stolen from a house in Sector 15 here, the UT police are yet to make headway in the case.
The jewellery, which was kept in a cupboard of one of the rooms, was found missing from the house on August 11 morning.
The complainant in the case, Gaurav Chhatwal, said his wife had seen the jewellery on August 9 and a day later, it was found missing.
Gaurav’s family was in the house on the day and no outsider, except maids, visited the place.
The complainant said he strongly suspected that one of the maids, who had access to the bedrooms, committed the theft.
“The footage of CCTV cameras installed near the house was scrutinized, which revealed that on the day of the incident, one of the maids arrived at the house with a white bag. While leaving, she is seen carrying two bags, including a bin bag,” he added.
The police have been provided with the CCTV footage. “There was no forced entry in the house and nobody except the maids visited the house on August 10. I do not know why cops are taking so much time to crack the case,” Gaurav added.
Meanwhile, the police claimed that an investigation in the case was on and presently, there was no headway in the case.
