The Punjab Government has told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that roller-skaters in the U-11 age-group would be allowed to participate in the national championship on the basis of trials conducted from October 28-30.

The undertaking before Justice Rajan Gupta came in response to a petition filed against the State of Punjab and other respondents by Tavish Sood and other petitioners through Saurav Verma.

The petitioners’ grievance was that the trials of the roller skating tournament to select players for the national championship scheduled to be held at Belgaum, Karnataka, was being conducted again without any cogent reason. Such an exercise may affect the rights of the petitioners, who were already been selected, they pleaded.

At the outset, the state counsel submitted that prejudice would not be caused to the petitioners by holding the trials. They would be allowed to participate in the national championship on the basis of the trials conducted in October.
