After the scrutiny of nomination papers on Friday, nine candidates are left in fray for the Mayor’s post and 109 for the councillor’s posts in 20 wards of the local MC.
The self-declared affidavits filed by mayoral candidates show that Independent candidate Asha Wadhwa is richer than BJP’s Renu Bala Gupta. Wadhwa has assets worth Rs4.03 crore, while Gupta has assets worth Rs1.04 crore.
Renu Bala has Rs 1.7-lakh cash in hand, Rs2.86 lakh in bank account and Rs36.25 lakh in post office and insurance. Besides, she owns two cars and scooters each. Her husband Brij Gupta has Rs1.85 lakh cash in hand, Rs4.75 lakh in bank account, Rs70.99 lakh in post office and insurance as an investment.
Renu has 300-gm gold jewellery worth Rs3 lakh, while her husband has gold worth Rs9 lakh. Her husband has to repay a loan of Rs 96 lakh.
Both Asha Wadhwa and her husband Manoj Wadhwa have assets worth more than Rs 8 crore. Asha has Rs 3 lakh cash in hand, share of Rs 8 lakh, gold jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh, while her husband has assets worth Rs 4.66 crore. He has RS 50,000 cash in hand, gold jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh.
