New Delhi, August 18

Based on a Dwarka resident’s complaint, Imasaun Henry Omorogby, a Nigerian national, and Sheela Dey, his Indian girlfriend, have been arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing them jobs abroad. The duo  have been running a scam using fake bank accounts and data from various websites, police said.

Their modus operandi was to send emails about employment opportunities outside India. After gaining the confidence, the duo would ask the victims for money on pretext of visa processing, work permit application, immigration and travel expenses. The victims would deposit the money in the account number provided and then the duo would vanish with the money, the police said. — TNS
