The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested a Kashmiri youth in the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) conspiracy case pertaining to waging war against the country.
“The NIA arrested a member of the proscribed terrorist outfit JeM,” said an NIA spokesperson.
He has been identified as Muzaffar Bhat, 25, of Monghama village of Tral sub-district in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Bhat was brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu, where he was detained under the Public Safety Act and produced before the NIA Special Court, New Delhi, on Monday against a production warrant, he said.
The NIA court sent him into nine-day custody.
“Investigation has disclosed that Bhat was in regular contact with the main accused Muddassir Ahmad (now dead) over WhatsApp during the relevant period,” the NIA said.
