Abohar, February 15

Shocked over the killing of CRPF jawans in a suicide militant attack in Kashmir, Shri Ramayana Pracharini Sabha, an NGO, today cancelled Shivratri celebrations in Pakistan.

The NGO has been for the past two decades sponsoring pilgrims to visit Shri Katasraj in Choa Saidanshah tehsil of Chakwal district in West Punjab, Pakistan, on Maha Shivratri and Sharad Purnima. Rakesh Nagpal, NGO secretary, said: “Pakistan allows 200 Indians to visit Shri Katasraj Dham where they take a holy dip on Maha Shivratri besides performing rituals in the centuries-old temples of Lord Shiva and Luxmi Narayan. Passports had been submitted and were likely to be processed by the Embassy of Pakistan next week. But after consulting many applicants, we decided to drop the plan.” — OC
