Now, you will have to pay Rs 2,000   in case the  police  tow away  your car for wrong parking. The UT Administration revised the vehicle  towing charges  in a notification  issued today.

As per the notification, motorists will have  to pay towing charges  of Rs 2,000  for four-wheelers,  Rs 1,500  for three-wheelers, Rs 1,000 for  two-wheelers  and Rs 3,000 for medium  and heavy vehicles. The UT Administration has also revised the penalty charges  for various offences. While it has left a majority  of fines  as prescribed  in the amended

The Administration had earlier imposed the maximum penalty under the amended Act, which came into effect from September 1. Under it, the fine for speeding ranges between Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for light motor vehicles and  Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 for medium passenger or goods vehicles. However, the penalty now  has been  fixed  at Rs 1,000  in the case of two-wheelers   and light  motor vehicles for the first offence and Rs  1,500  for the  second offence.

Fines for offences  such as driving without insurance or driving licence, unauthorised use of vehicles and violations related to the seat belt and helmet have not been changed.
