Now, you will have to pay Rs 2,000 in case the police tow away your car for wrong parking. The UT Administration revised the vehicle towing charges in a notification issued today.
As per the notification, motorists will have to pay towing charges of Rs 2,000 for four-wheelers, Rs 1,500 for three-wheelers, Rs 1,000 for two-wheelers and Rs 3,000 for medium and heavy vehicles. The UT Administration has also revised the penalty charges for various offences. While it has left a majority of fines as prescribed in the amended
Motor Vehicles Act, 2019, it has fixed some penalty charges in the minimum category prescribed under the Act. The Administration had earlier imposed the maximum penalty under the amended Act, which came into effect from September 1. Under it, the fine for speeding ranges between Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for light motor vehicles and Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 for medium passenger or goods vehicles. However, the penalty now has been fixed at Rs 1,000 in the case of two-wheelers and light motor vehicles for the first offence and Rs 1,500 for the second offence.
Fines for offences such as driving without insurance or driving licence, unauthorised use of vehicles and violations related to the seat belt and helmet have not been changed.
