Days after Congress MLAs from Ghanaur, Samana and Rajpura, falling in Patiala parliamentary constituency, levelled allegations of corruption against civil and police officers, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief has sought comments from party MLAs on the issue.

The feedback has been sought in the wake of growing discontent among MLAs and other party leaders against civil and police officers as they allegedly do not pay heed to them.

PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar said before taking up the matter with the state government, he had asked all party MLAs to give their feedback regarding the problem in their constituencies. He said the state bureaucracy had to be accountable to the elected representatives of people.

Jakhar, who after resuming the charge as state unit president in September this year, had promised to “reclaim power” from bureaucracy while “restoring” the respect and political space for party workers.

He reiterated that bureaucrats needed to behave with elected representatives in a dignified manner not only during the meetings of the District Grievances Redressal Committee but also in their respective offices too.
