Man booked in dowry case

PHAGWARA: On a complaint lodged by a woman, Mamta Rani of Nangal Kherra village, the Satnampura police have registered a case under Sections 406, 498-A, 323 and 506, IPC, against her husband Mandeep Singh of Dasuya on the charge of torturing her physically and mentally over his demand of dowry.

Man dupes 2 of Rs 6 Lakh, booked

Phagwara: On two different complaints lodged by Rajwinder Singh of Kapurthala, and Balkar Singh of Sultanpur Lodhi, the police have registered two separate cases under Section 420 of the IPC against Palahai Road resident Sanjeev Kumar. He was booked on the charge of duping both complainants of Rs 6 lakh, Rs 3 lakh each from both complainants on the pretext of sending their children to Portugal. The complainants told the police that the accused neither sent their kids abroad nor returned their money. OC

Three held with 140-kg heroin

Phillaur: A police team, headed by DSP Davinder Singh Attri, on Thursday arrested three drug peddlers, Karamjit, a resident of Nagar village, and Sunil and Rahul, both residents of Jamalpur in Ludhiana. The DSP said the police recovered 70 gm of heroin from them. He said 50 gm of heroin was seized from Karamjit and 20 gm of heroin from Sunil and Rahul. OC

Digital museum opens for public

Hoshiarpur: The digital museum exhibiting the life of Guru Nanak Dev opened for the public at Roshan Ground here on Thursday. Hoshiarpur DC Isha Kalia inaugurated the museum. The museum, which was a part of the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, will remain open for the public from 7 am to 5.30 pm till Saturday, while two light and sound shows — 6.15 pm to 7 pm and 7.45 pm to 8.30 pm —  will be organised on November 22 and 23.
