Kaithal, November 21

To enhance the vaccination rate, Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) will be introduced in the district.

The Union Health Ministry has been executing this project with the support of United Nations Development Programme.

Civil Surgeon Dr SK Nain stated this while speaking at a two-day training camp of cold chain handlers in a private institute here yesterday.

He said that to implement eVIN in the district in a systematic way, two-day training had been imparted to cold chain handlers.

Priyanjan Jha and Santosh Pandey, trainers of the United Nations Development Programme, Dr Ashish Verma, Sushant Gupta, Vinod Kumar, Jagpal Singh and Balbir Singh from the Haryana eVIN team provided important information to the trainees.

Dr Nain said that on all the 28 cold chain points, recording of vaccine inventory and monitoring would be done digitally. To keep watch on accurate temperature, temperature loggers will be installed on all implements at cold chain points.

In case of low or high temperature, the logger will give an alarm and will alert the technicians and handlers related to cold chains through email or SMS.

All handlers were provided SIMs and mobiles after the training. Dr Neelam Kakkar, district immunisation officer, was among those present on the occasion.
