Students visit animal shelter

Ludhiana: To inculcate compassion for animals among students, People for Animals (PFA), conducted a workshop for students of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar. Students and staaf of the school visited ‘Bhagwan Mahavir Abhayshala and Jeev Kalyan Kendra’ (gaushala, animals and birds shelter), run by PFA, at Khwajke village, Rahon road. The children fed various animals. Students were informed about the working of the organisation, animal welfare, importance of animals, and wildlife issues.

‘Ad mad’ show organised

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, organised an inter-class ‘ad mad’ show to mark World Television Day. The objective of the show was to acquaint students with promotional strategies in marketing through advertisements. Each class was allotted a topic on which they were asked to make an advertisement. The competition was bilingual and students were judged on the parameters of content, team work, presentation and overall performance.

Kids take part in Fancy dress contest

A fancy dress competition was organised at SAN Jain Model Senior Secondary School. Themes for the contest were ‘Save girl child’, ‘Save environment’, ‘Space journey’ and ‘mass media’. The annual prize distribution function was also held. Principal Meena Jain gave the vote of thanks and congratulated the participants. 

Career-counselling session

Police DAV Public School, Police Lines, Civil lines, conducted a career guiding session for students of Class XII by Sumit Wason. Wason shared his experience in the educational domain and guided students in choosing the right stream according to their interests and areas of expertise. Principal Anu Verma thanked the speaker and said informative career-oriented sessions and panel discussions helped students in enhancing their competencies.

DCM girls shine in volleyball

The U-14 volleyball girls’ team of DCM Presidency School made the school proud by bagging second position at the state-level tournament held at Tarn Taran. The sister duo, Priya and Priyanka of Class IX, have been selected to play the nationals. Manya Palta of Class VIII is also selected for the national camp. Principal Rajni Kalra congratulated the girls and their coach Rajesh.

Shabad gayan contest

GGN Public School organised an inter-school shabad gayan contest in the fond memory of Giani Raghbir Singh, one of the founder members of Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, Ludhiana. The chief guest on the occasion was Charan Kamal Singh. He said the participation of students in devotional and musical events elevated them spiritually and ethically. He gave away the prizes to the winners and congratulated them for performing well.

Universal Children’s Day celebrated

Universal Children’s Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. A fancy dress competition was organised for students of kindergarten. Tiny tots came dressed as social activists, leaders, players and other famous personalities. They were apprised of the importance of the day and Fundamental Rights given to the citizens of the country. Principal Mona Thakur appreciated the efforts of students and teachers.

Students visit Govind Godham 

Guys & Dolls Preschool paid a visit to Govind Godham and sought the blessings of Lord Krishna. Stidents performed the aarti  and fed cows at the godham. Ayush Sekhri, director of the school, said the visit was organised to teach moral and spiritual values to kids.

NCC cadets take out anti-drug march

An anti-drug awareness rally was taken out by NCC cadets of BVM, Chandigarh Road, to propagate the ill-effects of drug abuse among masses. The cadets shouted slogan ‘SAY no to drugs’. Principal Upasna Modgil laid stress on the need to eliminate this social evil to make the country a healthy nation.

World television day observed

Ryan International School, Dugri, organised various fun-filled activities to commemorate World Television Day. Students of Class III to V participated in an advertisement enactment competition while students of Class VI to X participated in a debate discussing the pros and cons of television. The activities were organised with the aim to hone public speaking skills of students. TNS

Annual athletics meet

Khanna: Desh Bhagat Global School, Khanna, organised its annual athletics meet. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, hoisted the flag. He asked students to participate more in sports activities. Various individual and team competitions such as 400-m, 200-m, 100-m, javelin, discus throw, high jump and long jump were held at the meet. Vice-principal Shayama Mehta appreciated enthusiasm of students.

Khamano girls win Science Congress

A district-level Children’s Science Congress (senior group) was organised at Senior Secondary School, Sirhand, at which a team of Government Senior Secondary School, Khamano, stood first. Principal said Jasleen Kaur and Sejal Arora, students of Class XI, who had participated in the Congress, have been selected for the state-level competition to be held at Kapurthala. OC
