Shimla, November 21

The aspirants seeking government jobs in Himachal would have to wait as the entire recruitment process for class III and Class IV jobs has been put on hold following amendment in eligibility criteria, making schooling within Himachal mandatory for applying for jobs.

The decision to amend the eligibility criteria was taken by the Cabinet on November 18 and the recruitment process was halted after the notification was issued to this effect.

The decision barred the candidates not passing the middle and high school examination from schools situated in the state from recruitment in class IV jobs in Himachal while for class III jobs, passing matric and 10 plus 2 examination from schools situated in the state has been made mandatory.

The Additional Chief Secretary (Personnel) has directed all the administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, heads of departments, Deputy Commissioner, chairpersons and managing directors of public undertakings, Subordinate Services Selection commission and HP Public Service Commission to withdraw advertisement/ process for recruitment to class III and IV posts.

“It has been decided by the government that the requisition for direct recruitment to class III and class IV posts/services, where advertisement for filling the posts has been issued but exams have not been conducted may be withdrawn forthwith and the posts be re-advertised in accordance with the provisions of Himachal Pradesh Eligibility for Appointment to class III and class-IV Rules -2019”, a communication sent by the personnel department said.

Stalling the recruitment process and starting in de novo would further delay the appointments affecting services in departments like health, education, public works, irrigation and public health and other key departments.

Further, the bona fide Himachalis, who had schooling outside the state for one reason or the other, are unhappy with the decision as this would debar them from applying for class III and class IV jobs in their own state.
