An anti-drug and anti-liquor campaign was launched yesterday in 75 panchayats of Pragpur development block, the biggest block of the state.

The programme, initiated by the Panchayti Raj Department and spearheaded by women, got a boost with different events organised to launch the campaign. Special meetings were held and anti-drug rallies were organised to generate anti-drug and anti-liquor awareness among people. An awareness rally was held in Lug village, which was led by panchayat pradan Seema Devi and joined by many women associated with the Awarsati Mehla Mandal.

Seema Devi said: “An application called ‘Drug-Free Himachal’ has been introduced by the state Narcotics Crime Control Bureau to control the menace. Drug menace is spreading fast and eroding the foundation of the youth. — OC
