New Delhi, November 21

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today cautioned Congress Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu against questioning the Chair’s impartiality. The incident happened during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha after Bittu raised the issue of the Centre’s decision to withdraw SPG security cover to the Gandhi family and was cut short by Birla midway.

As Birla pointed out that the issue had been raised several times earlier as well and asked the next member to raise his matter, Bittu said, “You have also joined hands with them,” pointing towards BJP members. Cautioning him against questioning the Chair in such a manner, the Speaker said, “Don’t speak in such a manner about the Chair. You will get another chance to speak.”

The Congress also raised the issue of electoral bonds in the LS, alleging that the BJP-led Centre went ahead with the scheme despite the reservations expressed by the RBI and EC. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Congress MP Manish Tewari termed it a “big scam”. — TNS
