Chandigarh, November 18

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued a notice to the PGI and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on a petition filed by the PGI Employees Union and has stayed the order of the ministry wherein the institute was directed to make the recovery of the bonus paid the non-gazetted Group B and C employees since 2015-16.

The PGI Employees Union, on November 14, filed a petition in the tribunal against the letter issued by the ministry which directed the PGI to desist from paying bonus for 2018-19 to the non-gazetted Group B and C employees with further directions to make the recovery of the non-productivity linked bonus/ ad hoc bonus paid to non-gazetted Group B and C employees for 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.

In the petition, Ashwani Kumar Munjal, president of the union, submitted that the letter issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare be quashed.

It has been further pleaded that the non-gazetted Group B and Group C employees are being paid ad hoc bonus for the past more than 30 years and also fulfil the terms and conditions laid down by the Ministry of Finance for payment of ad hoc bonus to employees of autonomous bodies.

The case will now come up for hearing on November 29.
