Panipat, November 17

The police have claimed to have arrested a man wanted for trafficking a Bangladeshi girl and allegedly pushing her into prostitution.

The accused, Rahul Dada, alias Inderjeet, of New Delhi was sent to two-day police remand on Friday. He had been on the run for the past six months. He is the main accused in the case. His accomplices Ajay, Mannu and Khushi were arrested in May.

Sub-inspector (SI) Harnarayan, in-charge, Tehsil Camp police station, said a girl was found roaming in suspicious circumstances in Bhagat Nagar of Tehsil Camp area on May 5.

The police detained the girl. She was found to be 17 years old and a Bangladeshi national. The girl reportedly told the police she had passed Class IX and was working in Dhaka when she came in contact with Sandeep of New Delhi.

Sandeep brought her to New Delhi on the pretext of marrying her. But after three days, he took her to Rahul’s home and left her there by claiming he was his friend.

Rahul and his wife Khushi mounted pressure on her to enter the flesh trade. When she resisted, he let Ajay allegedly rape the girl, the SI said. She managed to escape after some days and informed the police.

The police registered a case against Sandeep, Ajay, Mannu, Rahul and Khushi under sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.
