Bathinda, November 17

The Mansa police claimed to have solved the murder case of a 22-year-old man, whose body was found in mysterious circumstances around two years ago, with the arrest of one person.

The suspect has been identified as Baljit Singh (30), a resident of Gatwali village. The police have also identified his two accomplices — Gurmeet Singh and Gurmail Singh.

Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Narinder Bhargava said, “On June 14, 2017, Paramjit Kaur of Jhunir had lodged a complaint with the police that her son Amandeep Singh (22) had left home on June 8, 2017, saying that he was going to see a piece of land, but did not return. A case was registered on her statement. Now, three suspects have been booked and one of them has been arrested.”

The SSP said during preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the suspects had marginal land and Amandeep was Baljit’s cousin.

According to the police, the suspects had an eye on deceased’s land. In greed of land, the suspects first gave Amandeep some intoxicant substance and then took him to the Bhakra canal in a car. Later, they threw him into the canal.
