An elderly man and a youth were killed in two separate road accidents in the district.

In the first incident, 70-year-old Baldev Raj, son of Railaram, who was riding a bicycle, died after an unknown car collided with his bicycle at Chauhal village on the Chintpurni road. Baldev, a resident of Jalandhar, was working as a security guard in Chauhal.

In the second case, 24-year-old Chandan, son of Wilson and resident of Phulahri village in Jalandhar, died after being hit by an unknown car late on Friday night at Nasrala village on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road. Family members said Chandan had come to a marriage palace in Hoshiarpur to deliver goods with his companions. When he got off the car near Nasrala while returning to his village, a car hit him. He died on the spot. — OC
