Chandigarh, November 16

The BJP staged protests against former Congress president Rahul Gandhi across the state today and demanded an apology from him for his “Chowkidar Chor Hai” remark.

In Kurukshetra, CM Manohar Lal Khattar said the SC verdict on the Rafale aircraft deal exposed the politics of lies of the Congress. BJP leaders staged dharnas in Faridabad, Karnal, Kaithal, Rewari, Panipat and Nuh.

In Faridabad, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar led the protest. “As the BJP government led by PM Narendra Modi stands vindicated by the SC verdict on Rafale deal, Rahul ought to apologise to the country for his shameful remark,” he said. Gurjar said the SC observation that Rahul should take care while making such statements had been a major lesson to all those who spoke irresponsibly on sensitive and important national issues.

In Kaithal, BJP workers led by local MLA Lila Ram and district unit president Ashok Gujar sat on a dharna at Jawahar Park here. Lila Ram said Rahul and other Congress leaders tried to mislead the country on the issue in Parliament and during political rallies and had left no stone unturned to malign the PM’s image. Yogendra Sharma, district BJP Yuva Morcha president, led a sit-in at sector 16-17 roundabout on the issue. — TNS
