Patiala, November 14

The book, “The Art of Cross Examination”, written by a guest faculty member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Law (RGNUL) was released by Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr Paramjit Singh Jaswal, here today.

Advocate Gurjit Singh said the book was divided into two main parts, including cross-examination in criminal trials and cross-examination in civil cases.

He said, “In a criminal trial it is important to have knowledge about the working of the police if one wants to cross examine a police official. This aspect, including the importance of SEARCH has been explained in cases under the NDPS Act.”

“The idea is not to teach how discrepancies are created in versions of the witness in order to save the skin of the accused, but to help in conducting a free and fair trail,” he added.

“Only a few books are available on the topic in the market,” he said.
