Chandigarh, November 14
Leaders of the Chandigarh Congress paid tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, at a function organised at the party office in Sector 35 here today.
The programme was presided over by former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and city Congress president Pradeep Chhabra.
Addressing the gathering, Bansal said Pandit Nehru was considered as the creator of modern India. He was also a visionary leader.
Bansal said Pandit Nehru created a different identity of India in the world because of his ideas and his remarkable works.
Chhabra said Pandit Nehru had dreamed of a beautiful city and laid the foundation of Chandigarh. The five-year plan that Jawaharlal Nehru drew from his vision and understanding were still benefiting the country.
