Eight youths were booked for brutally assaulting a family in Bir Ghaggar village in Old Panchkula late last night. 

In his complaint to the police, one of the victims, Subhash Kumar, said he was standing outside his house around 7 pm when Vikas and Giani came on a motorcycle and hit him causing injuries on his arm. After hearing his shrieks, his nephew Monu came out of the house and while advising the two youths to drive slowly, one of the suspects, Sumit, slapped the former.

He said after that the suspects went from there and later, Vikas and his mother came to their house and said they would never repeat the incident in future. 

Subhash said when around 9 pm, Monu went to check his tempo parked near a school, Govinda, Sumit, Gola, Giani, Vikas, Gaurav, Pramod, Vikky and other boys came there and started quarrelling with Monu. He said thereafter, when he with his family visited the spot, Sumit attacked him with a knife from behind.

However, he did not receive major injury as he sat down and after this, the suspects started hurling stones on them and they managed to save themselves by returning to their house. 

A case under Sections 147, 148, 149, 323, 324 of the IPC has been registered at the Chandimandir police station and further investigations in the case were on.
