The police nabbed two persons for possessing 35-kg ganja at Rihod village falling under the Chandimandir police station in the wee hours today.

The suspects have been identified as Sutan and Vijay, both residents of Rihod village in Panchkula district.

Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a naka near Rihod village and started searching vehicles around 2 am. After some time, two persons came from the Shehjadpur side on a motorcycle. The police signalled them to stop for checking.

After seeing the police, youths slowed down their bike and tried to take a U-turn. However, the cops managed to nab them.

The suspects, who were carrying a bag, told the police that they would get it checked in front of a gazetted officer. The police informed ACP Om Parkash about the incident, who immediately reached the site. During checking, the police recovered around 35 kg of ganja from the bag.

A case under Sections 20, 21 and 65 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspects at the Chandimandir police station.
