Women games start in Mansa

Bathinda: Dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the Punjab State Women Games (U-25) started on Thursday. Around 3,600 players from 22 districts are participating in it.

Bathinda: Dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the Punjab State Women Games (U-25) started on Thursday. Around 3,600 players from 22 districts are participating in it. Deputy Commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait said the players would compete in 21 events. Arrangements for food, medical services and transportation of the players have been made. A wrestling match was also held at the event wherein Manpreet Kaur from Faridkot, Gursharan Kaur from Bathinda, Pawandeep Kaur from Moga and Ramandeep Kaur from Faridkot participated. TNS

BBA students shine in exams

Bathinda: Students of BBA, Semester-IV, of Baba Farid College have once again performed well in recently conducted Punjabi University examinations. Annie Goyal and Navteshwar Singh topped by scoring 84.29 per cent marks, followed by Jaspreet Kaur (82.57%), Himanshu Sharma (81.57%), Parneet Kaur (81.29%) and Bhawna (81.14%). Fifteen students got more than 75% and 18 students got more than 70% marks. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, BFGI, said, “The result is a major achievement of the students as well as the institute." Workshop on biotechnology 

Bathinda: The department of microbiology, Central University of Punjab, hosted a visit-cum-experiment demonstration to Baba Farid College students for ‘laboratory-based innovative approaches to learn biotechnology techniques’. The objective of the tour was to enhance the student’s understanding of specific scientific facts and concepts. A total of 26 BSc biotechnology students and teachers of Baba Farid College participated in this visit. Monisha Dhiman, head of the microbiology department, said that the purpose of this programme was to develop the student’s ability to identify questions and concepts that guide scientific temperament through laboratory experiences.
