Change in trains’ schedule next month

At least nine trains connecting the holy city with major destinations have been cancelled while frequency of three more trains has been decreased due to foggy weather season. The railway officials stated that a total of around 45 trains have been cancelled apart from decreasing frequency of 40 more by Northern Railways.

As per the circular, Amritsar-Gorakhpur Jansadharan Express has been cancelled from December 22 to January 26, Amritsar-Chandigarh Superfast from December 16 to January 31, and Amritsar-Lalkuan-Amritsar Express from December 21 to January 25.

The twice a week trains Ajmer-Amritsar Express, four times a week train Amritsar-Jaynagar Saheed Express has also been cancelled December 20 and December 17 respectively till the end of January.

The frequency of daily Howrah-Amritsar Express has been decreased to thrice a week starting December 17. The frequency of Amritsar-Darbhanga train has been decreased to once a week from December 18.

The decision has been taken to run the system efficiently and to avoid long delays in arrival and departure. The decision to cancel and decrease frequency would hit large number of passengers.
