Three snatching incidents in the past 24 hours have rocked the holy city. In the first incident, Kanwarbir Singh alias Roshan of Ganda Singh Colony on Tarn Taran Road was held when he was fleeing after snatching motorcycle from a local resident Sarwan Singh. Sarwan stated to the police that he was going to New Amritsar market on his bike and had reached near Gulmohar Park, when he was intercepted by the suspect, who thrashed him and took away his motorcycle. Later during investigation, the police arrested the suspect and registered a case against him. The police said more recoveries could be made during his interrogation.

In the second incident, local resident Radha Rani was robbed when she was going on a rickshaw to her house. When she reached near Aare Wali Gali, unknown youths came and snatched her purse containing Rs20,000 cash, a gold chain of 20 gm, a mobile phone and important documents. In the third incident, three persons travelling on a bike snatched mobile phone of one Reecha Vyas from Ranjit Avenue area. Reecha said she worked in an immigration office on Old Jail Road. An unknown youth snatched her mobile phone near Sarovar Hotel.

The police have registered separate cases in this connection but it was yet to make any breakthrough the last two incidents.

Meanwhile, the city police claimed to have arrested two snatchers identified as Ajay Kumar and Max of Gujjarpura area. A bike and a snatched mobile phone from their possession. With their arrest, the police claimed to have solved a mobile snatching case that occurred two days ago. They had snatched the mobile from Mandeep Singh of Krishna Nagar area on Tarn Taran area. Mandeep had stated to police that he was waiting for an auto rickshaw on Monday evening when the accused snatched his phone.
