Amritsar, November 14

The admissions to pre-primary classes commenced at elementary schools on the occasion of Children’s Day on Thursday. District education officials also began with their admission drive under which the teachers have been asked to create awareness on the facilities at government schools, the importance of pre-primary classes and quality education being offered by the state-run schools.

The state government had initiated the pre-primary classes in 2017. Kids above three years of age were enrolled in nursery, LKG and UKG classes. These kids are also taught through e-content and help of interactive tools is taken. The schools will be also making special announcements during morning assemblies to apprise students of the beginning of admissions. For admissions, parents are supposed to visit nearby schools and submit kids’ birth certificate, Aadhar card and other necessary documents. Last year, 18,000 kids were admitted to the pre-primary classes of the district. Schools will also be converted into smart ones.

Last year, teachers were trained by the department to ensure quality education.
