THE mismanagement of the local administration has led to extreme inconvenience to the residents of Jind as most of the main roads are blocked because of construction activities leaving the vehicular high and dry. Except Gohana road, which is operational for the vehicles, the entry and exit points of the city including Hisar road, Rohtak bypass road, Kaithal road, the road leading to bus stand and that from the Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University to Rohtak road are blocked due to the ongoing construction activities. The administration has started the construction of Railway over-bridge, Railway under-bridge and repair of the existing flyover. In absence of lack of traffic management and no proper diversion for the vehicular, almost all the city roads are congested due to the lack of space. The district administration should chalk out a plan for carrying out the development activities in a way that it does not cause inconvenience to the local residents. I urge the administration to take stock of the situation and make alternative plans to mitigate the problem. — Vishal Pawar, Jind

Focus more on poor children

HERE comes the Children’s Day (14 November, let’s revive the child in us and be honest to ourselves. As parents, we have become masters in passing the buck to schools for the folly of our children. Let’s now realise our responsibility and inculcate good values in our children by seting a good example, and providing them a positive environment at home. Let’s also go across to the deprived children and bring cheers to them. Let’s go down to the pavements and cover those children who are in the open with their parents in this cold weather. In case we have employed a child as a servant, quietly, let’s send him to a school immediately. There is no excuse, whatsoever, for child labour. It is their day today. Let them rejoice and feel like a king. — Colonel RD Singh (retd), Ambala Cantt

Streets remain dug up for months

SEVERAL streets in Shivaji Colony area of Rohtak city, which were dug up for the laying of water/sewerage pipelines several months ago, continue to remain in the same condition till date. Residents of the colony are doomed to face grave inconvenience while commuting as deep pits and huge mounds of loose Earth dot the streets, posing accident threat to the commuters, including the pedestrians. The authorities concerned seem indifferent to the plight of the residents. Perhaps they are waiting for some big mishap to take place which can trigger them to swing into action. — Shruti Singhal Ghai, Rohtak

Stray cattle menace continues

AMID the claims of authorities of making Karnal district stray cattle free, the stray cattle menace continues on the city roads, posing serious threat to the commuters. Stray cattle roaming on a road between Raghunath temple and Hansi road is posing threat to commuters. The authorities are not taking any step to overcome the problem. The Chief Minister too had promised to shift the dairies out of city, but he failed to fulfill his promise. — Prof MM Goel, Kurukshetra

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
