Undertrial escapes from police custody

Ludhiana, November 14

An undertrial, Suraj Kumar from Kheri village, Bihar, fled from police custody on Wednesday. The Ludhiana police sounded an alert and launched a search operation to trace the man at large, but all in vain.

Suraj Kumar was an undertrial in a theft case. After a hearing in court on Wednesday, all jail inmates were settled in a bus. When the bus reached the jail and counting of inmates was done, Suraj was found missing. It is a mystery, yet for the police to be solved, how an inmate managed to escape from a moving bus.

A case has been registered against Kumar. The Ludhiana police have uploaded his picture on its official Facebook page and Twitter handle. They have also announced a reward to informer helping in the arrest of the undertrial.
