Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who faced public ire over using “objectionable lyrics” in one of his latest songs, today paid obeisance at the Golden Temple, but he did not submit any clarification at Akal Takht on the matter.

Moosewala in a song from his album “Jatti Jeone Modh Wargi” had attempted to equate the female actor with Mata Bhag Kaur (Mai Bhago), a Sikh woman who fought against Mughals.

Acting on complaints , Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had directed SGPC to lodge a complaint with the local police, which was submitted on September 22. But before any action was taken, Moosewala tendered his apology through social media. He had said that he would also appear before Akal Takht for an apology, but he reportedly again sang the controversial song in a programme held overseas.

Accompanied by his family members, Moosewala paid obeisance at the Golden Temple and later, at Akal Takht. Sources say he wanted to submit his clarification, but the Jathedar was not available.

On the other hand, Takht Secretariat officials said he did not visit them and no clarification was received from his side.

Meanwhile, the singer was embroiled in another controversy after his security guards allegedly misbehaved with mediapersons. — TNS
