Bathinda, November 13

Following differences over various issues, a faction of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Sidhupur merged with the BKU Kadian on Wednesday.    BKU Sidhupur, one of the prominent farm unions in the region, got a jolt on Wednesday when some of its office-bearers and approximately 200 workers dissociated themselves from the union. They joined the BKU Kadian.

The members, who dissociated from the BKU Sidhupur, cited a “dictatorial” stance of the office-bearers for quitting the farmer union.  Following which, district-level and block-level committees of the BKU Kadian were reconstituted in the presence of Harmeet Singh Kadian, who is the state president of the union.

Balwinder Singh, an executive member of the union, said block and district-level committees had been reconstituted and Jagshir Singh Jeeda had been appointed the new district president. Besides, Sukhdarshan Singh Khemuana has been appointed general secretary while Surjit Singh Sandoha was made treasurer of the union.  On the similar pattern, Bathinda block executive committee members were also announced. Resham Singh has been appointed the new chief, Bhola Singh made the general secretary and Gurpreet Singh Khemuana is the treasurer of the union. — TNS
