Students of Bharatiya Public School, Smote, won the district-level science congress held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Chamba, recently. The model on “Green, Clean and Healthy India”, presented by Aman Goria and Deepak Kumar of Class X secured the third position. The winners were given medals and certificates. Director of school Purinder Rana congratulated the them.

ABVP president, secy appointed  

Dr Sunil Thakur and Rahul Rana have been elected the president and secretary of state ABVP. They will  take over on November 10 during the 40th state convention of the ABVP in Una. Sunil, hailing from Sarkaghat in Mandi, has been associated with the party since 1997 and is working as an assistant professor in the school of life sciences, Central University, Dharamsala, while Rahul Rana, who hails from Jaisinghpur in Kangra, has been re-elected for the second term.

DAV-Parwanoo students shine 

Students of DAV-Parwanoo excelled in athletics, shot put and discuss throw at Hamirpur and Sundernagar. During the four-day event, Tripti Verma of Class X bagged gold and silver medals in shot put and discuss throw. Osheen of Class VIII won a gold medal in chess. In kabaddi, Raj Sharma of Class XI, Anshul Kaleta of Class XII and Priyanka Rana of Class X made it to the nationals. In Taekwondo, Ayushi of Class X and Aayush of Class IX bagged gold medals, while Kartik Kumar of Class X bagged silver medals. 

State-level science competition 

Students of Indus Global School (India), Mandi, have been selected for the state-level science competition to be held at Bilaspur. In the science activity, Rishabh Puri, in a survey project report, Shanya and Barkha in the senior category and Laxita in the junior category won the district-level competition held at Rewalsar, where students of 22 Mandi blocks participated. Principal Madan Lal congratulated the winners.

Seven-day NSS camp

A seven-day special NSS camp was organised at DAV School, Alampur. Programme Officer Rajat Kumar shared experiences of previous camps, where the students participated in all activities. Chief guest Tilak Raj said NSS programmes helped develop students’ personality. He said volunteers could serve society through awareness rallies and “Swachhta” campaigns. Principal of the school Bikram Singh thanked the chief guest and congratulated the students.
