Sultanpur Lodhi, November 4

As the celebrations for the 550th Gupurb are on in full swing, the residents of the holy town have started welcoming the sangat to their houses.

Though there are three tent cities and sarais also available in the town, some families, especially the NRIs and women, are choosing the houses of residents for a more comfortable and a secure stay.

Ensuring all comfort by providing them clean bedding, attached toilets and kitchen, some big landlords have provided as many as 10 rooms in their houses to the sangat.

Dilbagh Singh, a tractor dealer who owns a 15-room palatial house in the town, said, “Three families from Ferozepur are staying with us. They have got their children along, for whom they need milk and other things from time to time. When they leave in two days, we have more families coming to stay with us. By accommodating them, we are doing our bit of sewa in the Gurpurb celebrations.”

Gurvinder S Boparai, another resident, said, “Four families have already stayed in two extra rooms that we have arranged in our house for the sangat. There are about 100 families that I know in the town who have been making arrangements for the stay of the sangat at their places.”
