Woman arrested for beating up child at Dhanas

CHANDIGARH: A woman has been arrested under the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act on the complaint of a supervisor of the Woman and Child Helpline (WCHL).

Chandigarh, October 18

A woman has been arrested under the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act on the complaint of a supervisor of the Woman and Child Helpline (WCHL).

According to the police, Surya Sonam, supervisor of the WCHL, Sector 19, reported that a call was received on the helpline regarding a child being beaten by a woman at Dhanas. A team of the WCHL and the police went to Dhanas and rescued a four-year-old girl who was staying with the woman, Phoolmati.

The police said the woman could not provide reliable information as to how she got the child. She was arrested under Section 75 of the JJ Act. The child has been sent to Snehalaya. — TNS
