Panchkula, October 18

BJP candidate from Panchkula Gian Chand Gupta today released the party manifesto for the constituency.

While urging people to vote for the BJP in large numbers in the upcoming elections, the 71-year-old leader claimed that around 85 per cent promises he had made during the last elections had been fulfilled

The manifesto carries an 18-point development agenda, ranging from basic infrastructure policies, health services, women safety to special focus on villages.

“I carried out development works of Rs 2,000 crore during my five-year term as an MLA. These include four laning of the Panchkula-Yamunanagar Highway, inauguration of Ayush Hospital, NIFT, upgrade of the Civil Hospital, railway overbridge in Sector 19,” the cover page of the manifesto mentioned.

Addressing a press conference, the BJP candidate said his focus would be on turning Panchkula into a smart city. Basic facilities in villages would also be on my agenda, he said. “There is a dire need for a designated protest site. Parking concerns at the court complex also need attention. We will also amend the HSVP manuals,” he said.

He said potable water in parks, door-to-door garbage collection and a new solid waste management plant would also be ensured.

“Panchkula will become slum-free as we will ensure construction of 7,500 flats at the cost of 650 in a time-bound manner,” he said. A 12-acre multi-featured park in Sector 24 and e-library will also come up in the city, the BJP candidate said. “To ensure proper sewage system in villages under the AMRUT scheme will be our target. Options to expand the city towards Barwala will be explored. The issue of waterlogging in residential sectors such as 16 and 10 will be addressed and law and order will also be strengthened,” he said.
