1 held for carjacking bid

A man attempted to take away a car from a girl at Sarabha Nagar Market this evening. However, he was caught by people and thrashed. 

Police division 5 SHO Richa said the incident occurred around 6 pm. Gurnoor Khurana of Sarabha Nagar had come to the market. 

After shopping, she sat in the car and was about to leave when a man suddenly sat on the rear seat. The accused showed a knife to the girl and asked her to leave. 

The girl immediately raised an alarm after which people cornered the accused. They also thrashed him and then called the police.

The girl told the police that the accused had threatened to kill her but she managed to rush out of the car and raised an alarm. 

She said the accused was a stranger and he seemed to have randomly targeted her. 

SHO Richa said it was a clear case of carjacking and the accused had been arrested. 

An FIR has been registered against the accused identified as Arvinder Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri.
