Two booked for distributing money for votes

LUDHIANA: The Jodhan police have booked Jaswant Singh of Phallewal village and Gurpreet Singh on the charge of distributing money for votes and tearing posters of the Congress candidate.

The Jodhan police have booked Jaswant Singh of Phallewal village and Gurpreet Singh on the charge of distributing money for votes and tearing posters of the Congress candidate. Both are reportedly Akali workers. A case was registered on the complaint of Phallewal village sarpanch Satnam Singh.

Satnam alleged that he noticed Jaswant and Gurpreeet distributing money among villagers and telling them to vote in favour of Akali Dal candidate. He also overheard the suspects talking about money given to villagers to get votes and posters of the Congress candidate torn by them, Satnam said. Satnam felt that the suspects may create problem in the village so he informed the police.
