Tarn Taran, October 17

CPI state general secretary Comrade Bant Singh Brar has alleged that the Union Government, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, has derailed the political, economic, cultural system of the country.

Comrade Brar was here to address the party’s district level-political conference on Thursday. He said the Union Government, led by Narendra Modi, had failed on all the fronts, as a result of which the country’s industrial units were facing closure, rendering lakhs of workers jobless and at the same time the corporate sector was flourishing. He said the economy of the country had been ruined so much that the government was forced to use the money of the Reserve Bank. He said corruption, unemployment and poverty were the main products of the Modi government.

He said the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir had converted the state into a big jail where human rights had been trampled upon and the people were forced to live within the precincts of their respective houses. He called the people to stand against the anti-people policies of the Modi government.

Prithipal Singh Marimegha, vice-president of the state CPI, among others, addressed on the occasion and condemned the state government for not fulfilling the promises made to the people before the Vidhan Sabha elections. The leaders alleged that the state government had failed to check the drug menace, give jobs to state youth, stop property encroachments, police atrocities, etc. — OC
