Event marks World Food Day at MRSPTU

The Department of Food Science and Technology, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, organised an event to celebrate World Food Day here on Thursday. The theme of the event was ‘Our Actions Are Our Future’.

The day is celebrated on the foundation day of the UNO’s Food and Agriculture Organisation.

Students participated in different events such as poster presentation, slogan writing, extempore, quiz and essay writing on the theme of ‘zero hunger’.

Dr Kawaljit Singh Sandhu, HoD, said, “The country is producing enough food grains, but ranks poorly in global hunger index. India’s rank is 102 out of the 117 countries. Around 19 crore people sleep with empty stomach. Celebrating World Food Day in the present scenario in its true spirit is important.”
