The sale of liquor will be banned in the city on voting and counting days of Assembly election – October 21 and October 24, respectively. Dry day will apply up to 3 km distance for the Assembly constituency, bordering district of other states. 

Tight surveillance will be in place in border areas to avoid any kind of illegal activity during model code of conduct. District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja said, “The order has been widely publicised in border districts of various states, which include Union Territory of Chandigarh, Solan and Sirmaur of Himachal Pradesh, SAS Nagar (Mohali).” “Legal action will be taken against offenders,” he added.
